The Western Fire Chiefs Association established a strategic alliance with Milliman with the stated goal of intelligently driving down risk in the Wildland-Urban Interface.
“At the end of the day actuaries and fire chiefs are trying to solve the same problem – to understand wildfire risk and figure out the best ways to reduce it,” Nancy Watkins, a principal and consulting actuary with Milliman, said in a statement. “With this alliance, we’re combining the WFCA’s on-the-ground leadership with Milliman’s deep insurance and modeling expertise to create an innovative and holistic approach to measuring, communicating, and reducing wildfire risk.”
The Western Fire Chiefs Association is a non-profit that represents fire-related emergency service organizations throughout the west coast and Western Pacific Islands.
Milliman is among the world’s largest providers of actuarial and related products and services. The firm has consulting practices in healthcare, property/casualty insurance, life insurance and financial services, and employee benefits.
