Heffernan Insurance Brokers has named Michelle Van Aken assistant vice president in the benefits department of the Menlo Park, Calif. office.

Van Aken brings has more than a decade of employee benefits experience ranging from open enrollment renewals and vendor management to benefits consulting and systems implementation.

She most recently worked as an employee benefits consultant at Filice Insurance.

Walnut Creek, Calif.-based Heffernan has offices in San Francisco, Petaluma, Menlo Park, Los Angeles and Irvine, and in Phoenix, Ariz.; Portland, Ore. and St. Louis, Mo.
