The state’s Drought Task Force says two recent storms that washed over drought-stricken California were welcome, but that the state still needs a lot more rain.
California Natural Resources Agency Secretary John Laird said Tuesday that the state needs a storm every other day through May to reach normal.
Laird spoke at University of California, Merced in a meeting of the state Water Board and Drought Task Force, which was appointed in December by Gov. Jerry Brown.
The panel that includes Secretary Karen Ross of the state’s Department of Food and Agriculture has been working to collaborate on the drought actions of their agencies.
Central Valley farmers also vented frustration at the meeting over the state’s handling of the water crisis and what they perceive as outdated environmental laws.
