Two women are suing Southern California Edison, claiming their electricity was cut off for refusing to pay a nearly $140,000 bill racked up by a marijuana grower.
City News Service says the suit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles, alleges breach of the service agreement.
Shu Chih Sun and her daughter-in-law, Mitha Pratiwi, say they leased a family-owned home in Corona to a man who was arrested last March on suspicion of growing pot there. The suit says he tapped power from Edison, which billed the property owners for three years of unauthorized service.
The women say Edison shut off power this month to their Rowland Heights home. They’re using a generator for lights.
Edison declined to comment on the suit but says it’s under review.
