A California mental hospital has been fined more than $27,000 for failing to implement worker safety measures.
The Los Angeles Times reported state worker safety officials fined Atascadero State Hospital for failure to prevent patient assaults on staff at the central coast facility.
Cal-OSHA says hospital employees suffered a monthly average of 10 patient-caused injuries in the first nine months of the year.
The Los Angeles Times says corrective measures to control those assaults were not effectively implemented.
