Another dust storm has blown through the Phoenix metropolitan area and parts of southern Arizona.
Wednesday evening’s storm came on the heels of one Tuesday night that reduced visibility to about 1 to 2 miles in some areas.
National Weather Service meteorologists say the latest dust storm was more than 2,000 feet high in some spots and limited visibility on some areas of Interstate 10 to less than 2 miles.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damages.
Arizona’s monsoon season began June 15 and runs through Sept. 30.
In recent years, it has produced massive dust storms called “haboobs.” Weather experts say haboobs only occur in Arizona, Africa’s Sahara desert and parts of the Middle East because of dry conditions and large amounts of sand.
