A wildfire in northern Colorado that has forced the evacuation of thousands nearly doubled in size overnight from 20,000 acres to 36,930 acres, authorizes said Monday.
The Red Cross, Humane Society and other aid groups mobilized to help evacuees while at least 400 firefighters, as well as air tankers and helicopters battled the fire about 15 miles west of Fort Collins, .
The fire was fueled by strong winds, low humidity, high temperatures and dry brush, according to authorities.
