Aerial ignitions along multiple portions of the Whitewater-Baldy Complex wildfire boundary in New Mexico allowed crews to hold and mop-up without any complications, while containment of the state’s largest recorded fire grew to 20 percent, according to an official report on the fire.
The fire, which started in mid-May, has grown to nearly 260,000 acres.
More than 1,100 personnel are involved in battling the blaze, as well as 60 engines, 28 water tenders and 10 helicopters.
