The former treasurer of a Meridian, Idaho homeowners association is charged with embezzling more than $20,000 from the organization since 2006.
The Idaho Statesman reported Tuesday that Kristy Jenkins is charged with felony grand theft. Jenkins lost her job as treasurer earlier this year after other members discovered funds were missing.
An investigation by Meridian police found evidence that Jenkins wrote personal checks with association money and opened a credit card account in the name of the association and used it to make personal purchases between 2006 and 2011.
An arrest warrant was issued this fall. Jenkins turned herself in to the Ada County Jail last week and was released after posting a $10,000 bond. Her initial court appearance is set for next week.
