Employers can learn how to fight workers’ compensation fraud at a free seminar sponsored by State Fund’s Santa Rosa District Office on Nov. 16. Experts from the California Department of Insurance and the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office will explore ways to identify, report and prevent workers’ compensation fraud.
“All of the system’s stakeholders, as well as California’s economy benefit from reducing workers’ compensation fraud,” said Santa Rosa District Office Manager Richard D. Schultz. “This seminar provides an opportunity for employers to learn about the types of fraud out there and how employers can report a claim if they suspect is fraudulent.”
The seminar will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Friedman Event Center, 4676 Mayette Avenue in Santa Rosa. Seating is limited and employers who want to attend should call State Fund Underwriting Manager Charlene Hayden at (707) 573-6464 by Nov. 7th to RSVP.
In an on-going effort to educate policyholders about workers’ compensation fraud, State Fund schedules a number of fraud prevention seminars throughout the year. State Fund’s Fraud Investigation Program (FIP) addresses all aspects of workers’ compensation insurance fraud including employee, employer, medical and legal.
In the last decade, State Fund’s FIP has helped produce hundreds of arrests and convictions in a wide range of cases in California’s fight against fraud.
