The American Insurance Association (AIA) congratulated
J.P. Schmidt on being appointed as Hawaii’s new insurance commissioner.
“AIA and its member companies look forward to working with new Commissioner Schmidt on the important issues facing insurance carriers and consumers in Hawaii,” said Jeanne Cain, AIA vice president, western region. “We eagerly await the opportunity to work with the new commissioner as he assumes management of the division. AIA believes that Commissioner Schmidt’s experience in both the public and private sectors will be of great value to him in his new position.”
Commissioner Schmidt will leave his partnership with the Maui law firm of Crockett Nakamura & Schmidt on Feb. 1. He previously served as corporation counsel for Maui County.
