Superior Access Internet Software Inc. (SAIS), announced the implementation of a multi-tier Web Services technology for XML data translation between Superior Access Insurance Services and The Hartford Financial Services Group’s 1StepSurety Fidelity and Bonding system.
1StepSurety and Superior Access Insurance Services needed to transfer disparate data from system to system in a real-time manner. The hurdle in this project was allowing the applications to operate effectively while providing seamless connectivity. The use of XML on top of MIME-encoded Bonds substantially reduced the complexities associated with this type of integration. Further benefits include the ability to perform asynchronous transactions where the server resources are used to the minimum.
“Because 1StepSurety runs on a SUN Java platform, and Superior Access Insurance Services is a Microsoft shop, we needed to ‘marry’ the two”, commented Srinu Kalyan, Superior Access Internet Software’s development lead on this project. “We created a hybrid technology utilizing Web Services that is secure, portable, extensible, and expandable. The solution incorporates Java, JSP, ASP, XML, and MIME, and uses both Java Run-Time and Microsoft’s IIS in its multi-tier architecture. This application is further extendable to handle SOAP.”
“The Hartford’s web-based surety bond processing system, ‘1StepSurety,’ allows our agency customers to quickly and easily quote, rate, and bill an array of surety and fidelity bonds through the Superior Access web front,” said Russell Vance, Business Development director of The Hartford’s Commercial Surety and Fidelity division. “Once issued, the XML transfer to Superior Access allows The Hartford and Superior Access to recognize customer data and ensure producers are credited for their production. This technology and process supports The Hartford’s focus of reaching more agencies and customers by combining new technology with expert products and underwriting.”
“This project creates a seamless STP (Straight Through Processing) application for Superior Access Insurance Services’ Agents”, commented Jerry Kroger, vice president of Systems Integration of Superior Access Internet Software Inc. “The most significant benefit of this approach is that it provides seamless connectivity that allows the application to operate effectively. The use of XML in this Web Service substantially reduces the costs and complexities associated with product integrations.”
