Investigators with the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Criminal Investigations Branch’s Fraud Division arrested a Sacramento man on six counts of insurance fraud.
Scott White, 39, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail and bail was set at $20,000. If convicted, White could face up to five years in state prison and/or a maximum fine of $50,000.
According to investigators, White, a tow truck driver for Little’s Towing Service, filed a claim alleging he injured his back due to a faulty driver’s seat in his tow truck. White did not report his alleged injury or file an insurance claim until after his employer terminated him for reasons unrelated to his claim.
A Golden Eagle Insurance Company claims examiner denied White’s claim because of post-termination defense. During a Qualified Medical Exam and a deposition, White denied any previous treatment for back pain or problems. Subsequently, medical records were acquired from White’s chiropractor that reported White had a history of treatment for back related problems.
