A California Department of Insurance (CDI) employee has surrendered to Los Angeles Superior Court following being charged with one count of insurance fraud by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Nestor Milon of Silverlake has been employed with the CDI in Los Angeles since 1994. He is currently on administrative leave, and if convicted, could face a maximum of five years in state prison and/or a fine.
Milon’s residence was damaged by fire on March 5, 2000. He is alleged to have submitted fraudulent receipts for added living expenses and replacement cost coverage in the amount of $5, 608.83.
Milon also allegedly submitted a claim for lodging and per diem expenses to Century National Insurance Co. that had been paid by CDI for expenses taken on while attending a training class in Sacramento. Milon had received the amount of $449.01 by CDI.
