J. Hyatt Brown, chairman, president and CEO of Brown & Brown,Inc. and Vincent Lee Lopez, Principal of DSD Insurance Agency, of Calabasas, California, today announced the acquisition of DSD Insurance Agency by Brown & Brown of California, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brown & Brown, Inc. The transaction is effective October 1, 2000.

DSD Insurance Agency specializes in providing personal lines insurance services for residents throughout Southern California. Lopez and his staff will continue to operate from their existing location as a freestanding profit center of Brown & Brown. “This action represents our initial entry into Southern California and we are looking forward to expanding our presence in this most important market,” Brown said.
