Following an investigation by the California Department of Insurance, acting Insurance Commissioner J. Clark Kelso announced the service of a Cease and Desist Order on Winters, Calif.-based Puget’s Sound Agricultural Society Ltd. (AKA “Jesus Christ Administrators”), which uses an Internet site (www. psasl.org) to advertise its “Vehicle Financial Responsibility Program.”
Puget’s Sound, described on its website as “a Christian membership society” which offers “a low-cost alternative to other plans, such as commercially available insurance,” has been ordered by the CDI to stop transaction of any and all insurance business without a license.
On August 22, the Connecticut Department of Insurance issued a similar Cease and Desist Order on Puget’s Sound after receiving a complaint from its Department of Motor Vehicles.
