The Surplus Line Association of California (SLA) reported that during the first six month of 2000, it had processed $812,9953,889, a figure representing an almost 1.2 percent decrease from the $822,740,064 processed during the same period in 1999.
During January-June 2000, the SLA handled 126,708 policies, compared to 124, 843 during the first six month of last year, an increase of 1.0 percent. The SLA represents more than 400 surplus line brokers licensed by the state of California to negotiate with insurers not licensed to do business in the state.
