Five Alabama high school football players were injured in a locker room when a brick wall collapsed onto them while they were getting ready for a game.
News outlets report that the Oakman High School players were in the visitor side locker room at Pike County High School around 5:30 p.m. Friday when the cinder block wall collapsed onto them as they sat on a bench.
The five players were taken to hospitals. Oakman coach Mark Hastings told WBMA-TV that three players suffered back injuries and two others needed stitches.
WBRC-TV reports that Pike County’s superintendent says the fire marshal’s office will investigate to find out why the partial wall collapsed.
The first round playoff game between Oakman and Pike County was rescheduled for Monday.
