A woman in North Carolina has been arrested and charged with insurance fraud for allegedly submitting a duplicate property claim, according to North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin. Kathryn Taylor Reynolds, 39, of Dobson has been charged with one count each of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense in Davidson County.
North Carolina Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Reynolds of submitting duplicate property loss documentation to The Cincinnati Insurance Companies in support of a theft that had already been paid for by a different insurance carrier. Investigators allege Reynolds received $42,013.73 in payment from Cincinnati.
With assistance from the Lexington Police Department, Reynolds was arrested on Sept. 8 in Davidson County and place under a $2,500 bond.
The Department of Insurance employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance and bail bonding fraud.
