The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program and law enforcement agencies are starting their annual holiday campaign to combat drunken driving.
The kickoff for the “Booze It & Lose It” enforcement campaign was held Dec. 11 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds.
Speakers included state Transportation Secretary Nick Tennyson and Wayne McNeil, the father of a victim of a driving-while-impaired wreck.
The “Booze It & Lose It” campaign began 21 years ago. Officials say nearly every law enforcement agency in the state participates in the campaign by continually holding sobriety checkpoints in all 100 counties.
