A northeast Florida man has filed a $10 million wrongful death lawsuit against a semi-truck driver and others related to a wreck that killed his wife and three stepchildren.
The SUV Dexter Culclager’s family had been traveling in broke down on a Jacksonville bridge last March before a Peterbilt truck smashed into them, killing his wife, 36-year-old Yakel Culclager, and her three children, ages 6-to-18.
Culclager is suing truck driver Judson Humphries and multiple trucking companies involved, as well as General Motors and a service shop that had checked the family’s SUV weeks before its driveshaft broke.
The Florida Times-Union reports that Humphries has not been criminally charged in the case but was cited with careless driving.
Attorneys for Humphries would not comment, and GM spokesman Jim Cain told the newspaper the company’s lawyers need to investigate before comment.
