New data released by federal authorities show the housing characteristics of Florida’s four major metro areas 鈥� Jacksonville, South Florida, Orlando and Tampa.
According to the report, Jacksonville residents are more likely to have fireplaces in their homes than in any other Florida metro areas, but homes in Tampa and Orlando are more likely to have pets.
The value of homes built in the past four years are highest in South Florida, with a median value of $275,000. That may also explain why less than half of the homes in Miami are owner-occupied, when it’s more than half in the other Florida metro areas.
South Florida residents also are more likely to have three or more cars than residents in the other areas, as well as having more homes used by snowbirds.
