A lawsuit stemming from the death of a former High Point University student has been dismissed against all remaining plaintiffs.
The High Point Enterprise reported the case was dismissed last week against Michael Qubein, son of school President Nido Qubein.
Information from the Guilford County Trial Court Coordinator’s office shows the case was also dismissed against another former student, Marshall Jefferson, and the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity.
The coordinator’s office said the mother of the Robert Eugene Tipton Jr., agreed to the dismissal.
The lawsuit had charged that the 22-year-old from Memphis, Tennessee, died as a result of fraternity hazing.
No criminal charges were filed in Tipton’s death. The state medical examiner said Tipton died from an overdose of prescription medicine.
