Chaucer, a specialist Lloyd’s insurance group, said it will open an office in Miami, Florida during the fourth quarter of 2014 to develop Latin American business for Chaucer Syndicate 1084.
Uwe Fischer, region development director for Latin America, will relocate from Chaucer’s office in Buenos Aires to lead the new office. He will be joined by Alejandro Ferrin, property facultative underwriter.
Chaucer said it will close its office in Buenos Aires.
Fischer has years of experience as a reinsurance underwriter in Latin America and, together with his team, will build on existing portfolio and client relationships to develop business throughout the region.
The new office extends the reach of Chaucer’s international operations and recognizes the increasing importance of Miami as a “growing hub for Latin American business,” said Andrew Voke, head of production at Chaucer Syndicate 1084.
