A former West Virginia insurance agent has admitted to his role in an arson scheme in Logan, according to a federal prosecutor.
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said 44-year-old William Janey Thompson pleaded guilty to wire fraud, aiding and abetting arson and a conspiracy charge last week in federal court in Charleston.
Goodwin said Thompson accepted a $50,000 payment from former Logan city council member James Glick to help Glick collect a $1 million insurance policy after a vacant office building was set afire in February 2012.
Glick and businessman Guy R. Miller previously pleaded guilty to arson, conspiracy and other charges, according to officials.
Thompson faces up to seven years in prison. Sentencing is set for March 24.
Glick and Miller face at least seven years apiece. They face sentencing Feb. 19.
