Florida’s Consumer Advocate Robin Westcott has resigned to become the vice president of the American Association of Insurance Services, an Illinois-based industry organization that develops standardized forms and rating information for 700 property/casualty insurers.
Westcott, an attorney, handed in her resignation to the state’s Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater yesterday.
“It has been a great experience to represent the insurance consumers of this state and I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity,” said Westcott.
Westcott was named consumer advocate by Atwater in July 2011. Previously, she was acting deputy of Property and Casualty in the Office of Insurance Regulation.
During her tenure as consumer advocate, she served on the board of the Citizens Property and Casualty Corp. and headed committees calling for changes in Florida’s no-fault auto insurance and workers’ compensation.
