Another 33 property owners in a flood-prone Berkeley County, West Virginia community have agreed to government buyouts.
The buyouts will give the county title to a total 116 parcels in Sportsman’s Paradise along the Potomac River.
Litter control and code enforcement officer Donna Seiler said 30 parcels previously acquired will be demolished through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s hazard mitigation program.
Seiler told The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Md., that two mobile homes and house scheduled for demolition apparently were set on fire last week.
