The mayor of Mount Vernon, Kentucy was arrested after a grand jury indicted her on charges of abuse of public trust, bribery of a public servant, insurance fraud and official misconduct.
Clarice Kirby has been under investigation by state police since June.
Officials say Kirby is suspected of buying alcohol for work release inmates and taking them to Richmond to drink.
She’s also accused of using public money and equipment to clean up a burned-down house outside of Rockcastle County and submitting the bills to an insurance company. Two city employees involved in the incident were also indicted and arrested on Friday.
The mayor was also arrested last year in a misdemeanor dispute over the destruction of a rock wall.
