Ex-Georgia Pastor, Son Face Arson, Insurance Fraud Charges

February 13, 2009

A former Barrow County pastor and his son have been charged with arson for setting fire to a church three years ago.

Barrow County sheriff’s deputies arrested 49-year-old Quincy Arnold of Lawrenceville Tuesday. Investigators said he served as pastor of the New Life Deliverance Church near Winder.

The blaze gutted the church on Dec. 7, 2005. State and federal investigators said gasoline was used to ignite the fire.

Arnold’s 24-year-old son, Maurice Arnold of Dacula, was arrested in January.

The two men also face conspiracy to commit a crime, vandalism of a place of worship and insurance fraud.

Quincy Arnold was released on $50,000 bond. His son is out of jail on $30,000 bond.
