Professional truck drivers will be in West Virginia this week demonstrating to teens how to avoid accidents with tractor-trailers.
Share the Road is an outreach program of the American Trucking Association that educates drivers about sharing the road safely with large trucks.
The group will be at Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley on Tuesday and East Fairmont High School on Wednesday.
Drivers will have demonstrations that include ride-alongs. They will also give tips on blind spots, safe merging techniques, following distances and tips on winter travel.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says 35 percent of all truck-related highway fatalities are due to a truck’s blind spot.
