A former North Carolina television news anchor has reached a settlement in a wrongful-death lawsuit involving the family of a man he ran over and killed while driving drunk.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that the settlement was announced in a hearing in Forsyth Superior Court involving former WXII anchor Tolly Carr. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
Carr’s attorney, Ken Rotenstreich, said that Carr would begin making payments to the family of Casey Bokhoven on May 1, 2010.
Carr pleaded guilty in August 2007 to felony death by vehicle, felony serious injury by vehicle and driving while impaired. Winston-Salem police said Carr drove his truck around a barricade at a construction zone in March 2007, ran off the road and went over a wall, then struck Bokhoven.
