A West Virginian woman has been sentenced to up to 10 years for submitting false insurance claims for jewelry.
According to state officials, Sherry Kay Peyton, of Williamstown, who plead guilty in May 2008 was sentenced on Nov.6 by the Judge J. D. Beane.
Peyton was sentenced to three consecutive sentences of one to 10 years and five years. Peyton submitted two separate insurance claims for the same piece of jewelry that she claimed she lost in May and August of 2006. Additionally, Peyton used a fax machine to send a fraudulent receipt attempting to show reimbursement to the second insurance company that she filed a claim with earlier in 2006.
