More than 41,000 claims were filed with Florida insurers on damages suffered from Tropical Storm Fay which swept across much of the state in August.
A spokesman for the Office of Insurance Regulation said Monday that 84 percent of the claims have been paid while 9,555 remain to be settled.
Fay created more than $246 million in damage to homeowners and businesses with the highest number of claims filed in Brevard, Duval and Orange counties.
The storm made four landfalls in Florida, blowing into the Florida Keys on Aug. 18 and darting across the state into the Atlantic briefly before turning westward and leaving the Panhandle on Aug. 24.
