Seven miners were injured when their underground transport vehicle jumped its tracks and crashed at the Round Bottom Mine in Sylvester, W.Va.
Authorities said the mantrip accident happened at 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 10 near the mine entrance. Rescue crews were able to remove the victims within a half-hour of the crash, which is under investigation.
Boone County dispatchers said the miners were transported to a local hospital, and several of them suffered broken bones. None of the miners’ injuries appear to be life-threatening.
