Federal investigators are examining the South Carolina road a Lear jet crossed before crashing shortly after takeoff at Columbia Metropolitan Airport, killing four people and injuring two popular musicians.
On Sept. 23 National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Peter Knudson said investigators planned to collect evidence from the road crossed before the plane stopped a quarter-mile from the runway.
Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM were burned in the Sept. 19 crash but are expected to recover. The coroner said the pilot and co-pilot died from smoke inhalation and burns, and two passengers died from the impact.
Knudson says investigators will leave South Carolina on Sept. 25.
NTSB officials said a cockpit voice recording shows the crew thought a tire blew and tried to abort the takeoff.
