Crews continue to clean up after strong storms knocked down trees and cut power to thousands of people in South Carolina.
Some of the worst damage was in the foothills. At North Greenville University, officials said strong winds Monday evening damaged the roofs of two buildings while 900 teenage campers huddled in the school’s chapel. No one was injured.
A different storm also knocked down hundreds of trees in Columbia.
At the height of the storms, about 45,000 people were without power in the state. By July 22, about 1,500 people didn’t have power around Columbia, and 2,600 were without electricity in Greenville and Spartanburg.
