A 43-year-old Gautier, Miss. woman has been arrested and charged with one count of insurance fraud, according to Attorney General Jim Hood.
Hood said in a statement that Eva Pierce was arrested on April 8.
Hood’s statement said Pierce’s arrest followed an investigation into an insurance claim she filed in which she falsely claimed to have been injured while shopping in an Ocean Springs business.
Pierce was taken to the Jackson County sheriff’s office following her arrest and bond was set at $3,500.
If convicted of the felony, Pierce could be sentenced to up to three years in prison and fined.
