Weather officials in Alabama confirmed that storm damages in Blount and Cherokee counties were caused by two tornadoes.
The March 15 tornadoes packing 115 mph winds, caused no injuries or deaths, the National Weather Service said Sunday.
In Blount County, just southeast of Oneonta, a tornado damaged Appalachian School property but not the school itself.
The twister moved along Blount County 12 and U.S. 231 downing hundreds of trees, leaving 25 homes with major damage, destroying a mobile home and killing hundreds of chickens and six cows.
A tornado in southern Cherokee County destroyed a barn as well as damaging another barn and three homes.
