Allstate customers in West Virginia will be paying less for homeowners’ insurance.
The company announced last week that West Virginia homeowners with Allstate insurance policies will get an average rate cut of 10 percent.
Allstate officials also said they have ambitious plans for expansion in the state. They plan to start hiring new agents to meet anticipated demand for the company’s products.
Insurance Commissioner Jane Cline says Allstate is the fourth-largest provider of homeowners’ insurance in West Virginia. In 2006, Allstate had 5.9 percent of the market, behind Eerie, Nationwide and market leader State Farm, which has more than 26 percent of the market.
