North Carolina Department of Insurance officials arrested a Winston-Salem woman Tuesday and charged her with insurance fraud.

Margaret Brissett, 45, was charged with eight counts of insurance fraud and is being held on a $12,000 bond.

Investigators allege that Brissett provided her insurance company documents falsifying a disability in order to obtain more than $7,000 in benefits. The case involves a credit insurance policy, which was set up to pay Brissett’s car payments in the event of her disability.
