United Automobile Insurance Group is sponsoring a Vision Racing Indy car driven by Ed Carpenter in this weekend’s Indianapolis 500 race. United is a North Miami Beach, Fla.-based privately held property and casualty insurance company that focuses on the non-standard auto insurance market.
“This is a very exciting endeavor for UÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½,” Michael Parrillo, executive vice president said. “By sponsoring an Indy car we hope to increase name recognition and develop closer ties to our independent agents.”
Vision Racing was formed in February 2005 by Tony George and his wife, Laura. They had purchased the assets of Kelley Racing from Tom Kelley, and since then, Vision Racing has set its sights on consistent top 10 finishes and is working toward its first win.
The team’s driver lineup is made up of a promising IndyCar Series group including Ed Carpenter, who will be driving the UÌìÃÀÍøÕ¾´«Ã½´«Ã½ car this weekend. Carpenter qualified 12th (fourth row) in the field of 33 cars. He and his Vision Racing teammates look forward to bringing the team its first victory in the competitive Indy Racing Series.
This year marks the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500, which will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 28th and will be broadcast live on ABC Sports, IMS Radio Network, XM Satellite Radio channel 145 and on the Internet at www.IndyCar.com.
