Aflac Inc. announced in Columbus, Ga. that Martin A. Durant III will rejoin Aflac as senior vice president, corporate finance, on July 1. In his new position, Durant will be heavily involved with Aflac’s capital management activities and strategic financial initiatives.
Durant originally joined Aflac in 1990 as vice president and comptroller and remained with Aflac for 10 years, during that time being promoted to senior vice president, corporate services. In 1999, he accepted a position as senior vice president and CFO of Carmike Cinemas Inc., from which he retired on April 1.
“Durant has a wealth of accounting experience and an extensive financial knowledge base, as well as a thorough understanding of Aflac’s operations both in the U.S. and Japan,” Kriss Cloninger, Aflac president and CFO said. “His return to Aflac adds depth to our senior financial management team, and we look forward to the many contributions he will make as we at Aflac pursue our objectives.”
