Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said state lawmakers will likely deal with some hurricane issues when they meet in a special session beginning Dec. 5.
The governor said it would probably make sense to address some hurricane issues, like moving up the sales tax holiday on hurricane supplies.
Some lawmakers have suggested the Legislature look into why so many Florida Power and Light customers lost power during Hurricane Wilma last month and why it took so long for power to be restored.
Bush said the issue involving FPL should not be addressed until the regular session which starts in March.
He said more time is needed to gather information about the power outages.
Bush called the special session so that the Legislature can take up Medicaid reform and the issue of slot machines in Broward County’s pari-mutuels.
