Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine announced that warrants have been issued in Savannah, Ga., for an insurance agent charged with multiple counts of insurance fraud.
Rosemary Middleton has been charged with eight counts of insurance fraud, one count of operating an insurance agency without a license, and one count of acting as an insurance agent without a license.
Middleton allegedly operated the Georgia Liability Insurance Agency in Savannah, from January 2003 to May 2003 without renewing her agency license or her agent’s license.
While operating the agency Middleton received premiums intended to pay for insurance with Progressive Insurance Company. However, Middleton purportedly kept the money for her personal use.
Oxendine urges consumers who may have dealt with this agent to contact the insurance company listed on their policy to be sure they have the coverage they paid for.
