A chiropractor in Port St. Lucie, Fla. was arrested on charges of insurance fraud and continuing his chiropractic practice after losing his license. According to the Fort Pierce Tribune, Gregory Dale Blackman had been working as a chiropractor in the area for nearly two decades.
Blackman was charged with three counts of filing false and fraudulent insurance claims and five counts of unlawful practice of chiropractic medicine, and was held on $55,000 bond. He is accused of submitting thousands of dollars of insurance claims to Progressive, State Farm and Blue Cross Blue Shield, even though his license was not valid.
Blackman’s license was allegedly suspended on Nov. 7, 2001, and revoked on July 26, 2002. Suspension and revocation of his license was reportedly related in part to Blackman’s failure to enter treatment for a prescription drug addiction.
