The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) will hold a brown bag series covering the dispute resolution process workers’ compensation system participants and the department’s hearing section.
The brown bag series will feature TDI deputy commissioner of hearings Allen Craddock. He and his staff will travel around the state in January to meet with stakeholders in workers’ compensation space.
“I will share ideas about the dispute resolution process and ask for input from system participants to build more sustainable systems and promote transparency in the process,” Craddock said.
The agenda will include
- Elimination of pre-hearings before medical contested case hearings.
- Move from Zoom commercial account to ZoomGov for benefit review conferences.
- New designated doctor procedures eliminating multiple certifications before a party requests dispute resolution.
- Practices and procedures regarding the use of electronic documents in proceedings.
- Practices and procedures regarding clerical errors and exhibit presentation.
- Proposals to create efficiencies in docketing proceedings to reduce continuances.
Specific cases will not be discussed.
Information on the date and place of brown bag sessions is available at TDI’s website.
