Medical professional liability insurer, ISMIE Mutual Insurance Co., has been approved as an admitted carrier in Texas.
The company said Texas regulators have approved its rate and forms filing, so ISMIE is now able to offer Texas physicians, health professionals and medical entities customized medical liability coverage. New policyholders also will gain access to a wide range of ISMIE’s core products and services, including risk management products, cyber liability protection, and claims services.
The company’s subsidiary, ISMIE Indemnity, already has been operating in the state. ISMIE Chairman Paul H. DeHaan, MD, said in a statement that as an admitted carrier the insurer will be able to offer “more coverage options for our current and future policyholders.”

With the addition of Texas, ISMIE Mutual is an admitted carrier in 13 states and the District of Columbia, and through its ISMIE Indemnity subsidiary protects health professionals in all 50 states.
