The chief insurance regulator in Arkansas says he has approved more than 50,000 new individual producer and adjuster licenses since his tenure began in January 2015.
In a statement released by the Arkansas Insurance Department, Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr said that “as of June 1, we have added 50,476 new licensed individual producers and adjusters in Arkansas in a little over four years of work. Each license is another agent selling to an Arkansan or another adjuster helping our citizens with a claim.”
At the end of 2014, there were 87,380 individual licenses issued by the department. By the end of 2018, that number had risen to 135,291. As of June 1, 2019, there were 137,856 licensed individual producers and adjusters in Arkansas.
Under Kerr, the department has focused on offering agent training and education online. Additionally, the department plans on moving to 100% online license renewals by the start of 2020.
