Two South Texas counties have been declared state disaster areas following late-summer heavy rain and flooding.
Gov. Greg Abbott on Sept. 26 announced the disaster declarations for Atascosa and Wilson counties. The time frame involves severe weather and flash flooding the weekend of Aug. 20-21.
Some people living in the Floresville area reported getting up to 9 inches of rain.
The state disaster designation helps clear the way for government assistance.
