The Federal Emergency Management Agency says residents of nine Arkansas counties have just one month left to register for disaster assistance for damage from severe storms in May and June.
FEMA said Friday Arkansans who sustained damage due to storms between May 7 and June 15 must register for assistance by Aug. 25.
Residents of Crawford, Garland, Howard, Jefferson, Little River, Miller, Perry, Sebastian and Sevier counties may be eligible for federal disaster assistance. That can include money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, personal property loss and other disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.
Low-interest loans are also available from the Small Business Administration to help with residential and business losses not covered by insurance. The SBA is the government’s primary source of money for rebuilding disaster-damaged private property.
